Impressive Drum Challenge

Postby Masato » Tue Dec 14, 2021 3:53 pm

Hey all

Stumbled on this, really enjoyed.

This professional drummer who I never heard of is apparently some top level talent.

Anyways the challenge was to listen to a song he never heard before, in a genre he never plays.
He gets to listen to the song ONCE, and try to remember as best he can how it goes, then play along the 2nd time and see how well he can remember.

The challenge was Enter Sandman by Metallica.

Well this dude could totally be lying that he never heard it before lol but if he is telling the truth (which I don't think is impossible) it is indeed super impressive. He listens and memorizes it like some kind of autist and then fucking NAILS it lol. Really amazing, that is a lot of info to process, organize, memorize, and perform.

I watched it twice; once just the original, and then a 2nd time with some random commentary from another drummer that I don't know lol

wow there are TONS of 'Reaction' vids to this lol

I've had enough though

I still play my drums sometimes but not enough. This has kind of pumped me up to maybe try to get better. I've been invited to haul them to a buddys place in Hamilton to jam with him, he's got some guitars and amps and mixing equipment. Could be fun

- It's possible to have never listened Enter the Sandman?
- I rent this space for advertising

Don't be selfish, preserve this world for the next generations.

I'll never long for what might have been
Regret won't waste my life again
I won't look back I'll fight to remain

lol yeah I have to admit my tinfoil hat says he might be scamming us lol

Then again he is clearly a badass drummer.

He talks at the end I think about this, a nice little speech about different styles of music being products of different subcultures, and how there are so many that we will always be unfamiliar with tons of great stuff other people think is normal lol

Interesting ideas

- I doubt he never heard Enter the sandman! We can be unfamiliar with regional music, but not something That's used to be show all the time two decades ago.
Today we have the option of shield orselfs from mainstream music. But because today music suck's.

Do you think he's scamming us?

I wouldn't be surprised lol

It would be so easy to do if you were a good liar. Even if he heard it a few times its memorable enough to impede the challenge he claims to be doing.
