A bear may have eaten him

Hey all..!

Back and safe. We did see a bear but didn't get eaten :D

Work kicked as soon as we got back so I had little time to decompress or get online. Plus it was so nice to be away from internet for almost 3 weeks, wanted to stretch it a bit more. Twitter was right where I left it, lol I think I will cut down on that too

Here are some pics:

Flew to Edmonton. Could see the moon. Flying is so weird

This is what we rented:

Approaching the Rockies:

When we picked up the RV there was a dude that just drove the reverse route, and he said you can't see shit, everything was covered in smoke from the forest fires. But when we got there it started clearing, and we had lots of clear mountain views.
Image

There was still lingering smoke in the air though:

Amazingly, small campfires seemed to be OK (??). Saw plenty and no one made a fuss

Rafting the next day. Have more pics but I'm too lazy to shoop all the Saku masks onto family pics lol

Found a hiking trail that followed along a river canyon:

Drive from Jasper to Banff. It is really something to see, no understatement. Pictures do not do it justice

We got into Banff super late, was dark and we couldn't see shit. I knew our side was on a lake but didn't tell anyone. Next morning we woke up to this right outside the RV:

rare pic of Mrs Masato:

I think this was my favourite part of the trip. I braved a cold swim but it was complete heaven once I adjusted
Image

Walked a trail that went around the lake as the sun came up. No forest fire smoke

Lake Louise/Moraine:

We took the longboards, hunting for smooth pavement along the way. Banff was great for this, the main street was blocked off to traffic, huge mountain views in the background.
I'm just noticing the capped pyramids in the lamposts now, lol

After Banff we drove to Revelstoke.

Everyone was saying that the road was closed, and the detour would be like an extra 5-7 hours of driving. But other hints suggested it was open, we saw lots of trucks heading that way and locals said it was only closing at night and they hadn't taken down signs yet from recent fire closures. So we took a chance and snuck through lol

Revelstoke is a place I will need to come back. I always heard the skiing was great there but never actually been there in winter. Was cool to check it out in the summer though, some of the lifts were open for bikes and hikers etc. Small town, not much touristy stuff but apparently lots of snow. The town is tough and down to earth, just a little hardcore ski town with metal roofs lol you know it gets good snow when all the houses have metal roofs:D

I'm telling you, BC ski town folk are my kinda people, lol:

This pic is for Som and Mega :D :

Lil Masato and I went for a short explore from the campground, found these tracks to follow for a bit. Some good father-son time.

Next day we rented a car so we could go off-road to go find some natural hotsprings.
Day started with a ferry ride into Nakusp. This is fresh water lake, the ferry is free:

Logging road for a few KMs, then a tricky path down through the forest to the river

Hotsprings are right next to a COLD river. There are a bunch of pools and they are HOT..! Like where it comes out of the rocks it is actually so hot it will burn you.
