I used to do mostly no-gi before, but now I'm all about the gi. Mainly because I'm old and slow now. If i were to do no-gi again, the young'uns would run circles around me. lol
It's a fairly new gym. Instructor is a Nova Uniao brown belt. Honestly thought I would never roll again since it never fits my work schedule. But this place has late classes, so I can trane after work
Nice! I didn't know you trained, at least not regularly
I also had a 6-7 year layoff, I think more. Lost a lot of good years of training
Its not easy doing BJJ in your 40's, we should support each other here lol
Last night I did really well, just slowed down my game and tried to use my jitz effectively and methodically rather than relying on any strength or speed/scrambling etc. Worked very well, I was able to control and decide a bunch of matches without really getting my heart/breathing up. Of course when it came time for the coach to watch I made some mistakes and got thumped, lol. Coach always seems to miss my best moments and witness my worst. That shouldn't bother me but it does
Now that summer is here I can do Saturday classes again, usually I teach Saturday mornings but not for the summer. This will be great because is means a potential of 3 classes per week, or if I miss one I can still make it up and get at least 2 per week.
