USA during WWI

Postby Masato » Tue Dec 27, 2022 3:31 pm

Interesting 30 min talk about stuff that was happening un the USA during WWI.

Chris Hedges interviews Adam Hochschild about his new book.

Hochschild argues that the period during WWI was one of the darkest chapters in American History, and thus has been mostly erased and not taught to anyone.

He argues that the war was used in many ways as an excuse for oligarchs and government to violently crack down on dissenters and make all kinds of new 'war-measures' laws and Acts on the back of the war-narrative.

Super interesting as we have seen this in our lifetime, though apparently not as harshly as during those early 1900's. Does this mean we are making progress?

Sure seemed brutal the way people managed themselves back in the day. These days people are shocked and traumatized over horn-honking lol

Great quote that starts the interview;
