First class back today after Christmas break.
I had eaten a lot of food and wine and didn't exercise much at all aside from some walks with the dog in the woods. Probably gained some pounds was nervous going back but I did great. We had a full class and every roll was fantastic and I was still fresh at the end. Was working my guard well today.
really pleased.
Maybe its the new gi I bought myself for Christmas
I'd been wearing a black gi for years, wore holes in the knees so switched to white. I think it is giving me some extra mojo

I got a new white gi too. Hypnotik Pro Max. Got it on a 2 for 1 black friday sale. But they sent the wrong size on one of them. So they had to send us another one and let us keep the wrong one. It's an A4. No luck selling it here yet. As if there are any 6'5" giants in the HK BJJ scene, lol

^^ fits nice but I don’t think I’ll be putting it in the dryer. If it shrinks it will be too small.
Bought an A2, but the pants are a little tighter than I’m used to. Not so bad but so far it kinda bugs me. Not sure how to pants are supposed to fit, I saw lots of others yesterday with similarly short pants but I’m used to having them longer and looser.

I got an ass whooping on Friday too. Got knee barred twice. Guillotined, and armbarred. Dude is the Pan Asian No GI champ so it was expected.Edge Guerrero wrote:- My last training sucked so much. I got the most humilating ass-whopping i can recall!

Got pinned in side control by a huge heavy blue belt the other day. It sucked.
Did 2 Aikido classes out here in BC this week, my brother is a high black belt teacher here
There is another black belt at his dojo who is also a purple belt in BJJ, and kindly for me he designed a class last night where we did some cool aikido techniques, and then for the last 30 mins he showed how the same techniques can be applied on the ground as well. Very very cool
I also had a tiny lightbulb go off for the first time understanding some of the movements of aikido. They look so weird but the techniques we were working I could totally see and feel how those strange movements DO make the technique work way more powerfully! I was all tight and a bit hunched, the guy said bjj is mostly about contracting while aikido is more about extending, so he showed me to posture up and how those weird aikido stances apply and right away I can’t deny it made the technique twice as strong or better.
Super interesting.
