Did your dead mother tell you things before or after she became dead

Jk

Kinda.
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.

Which is to say... if you truly believe that your psychosomatic symptoms will be cured by taking your favorite asshole`s bullshit, then it may happen and turn you into a charlatans's minion.

Honestly youre like a nice guy and not insane version of EY lately I swear. I love ya brah but some of the shit youre posting tells me the weed is getting a little too good in Canada.

Jesus fucking christ

Okay holistic medicine is umbrella bullshit and homeopathy could be described as being under the umbrella of the term "holistic medicine", holistic medicine in addition to that are things like chinese and ayurvedic "medicine" where they try to balance shi/chakras/energy/emotion/spirit fucking blah blah bullshit fuckoff

These things are as stupid as religion, there is no basis for it. My dead mother used to tell me that her culture knew about the benefits of tumeric WAAAAAAY before western science... BULLSHIT they kinda did but it was a fluke and when I say kinda I mean the way they took it medicinally gave them zero benefits. My granmother used to throw turmeric pwoeder in a glass of hot water and drink it.. this did NOTHING. They only fluked the benefits of turmeric because they put it in curries which contains black pepper (in garam masala) which enables us to digest the turmeric.

Hey dont feel bad though, heres another bullshit thing... foam rolling. Ive been doing it for years like a retard, only in the last few weeks have I learned that apart from analgesic relief it does nothing, there no "myofascial release" whatever the fuck that it. Thank you Mark Rippetoe for making me research this for myself and learning that I too am a spastic. Fucking foam rolling lol

Lastly Ben thanks for posting that vid, I watched it while researching this bullshit hence my shitting in the red sea analogy, I think Dawkins put it more eloquently for sure.

lol

Yeah I'm pretty healthy most of the time, have not had much experience with much medicine at all really. I did heal my digestive problems by simply changing the way I eat, where some 2million/year Gastro-expert told me he couldn't help me even though he never asked me once what I eat lolol

What is 'Naturopathy' then?

Do ANY of these non-allopathic fields have any respectable schooling behind them?

I remember visiting a clinic in Morocco once filled with jars of roots and herbs, men in white coats prescribing stuff for a host of symptoms, shelves of professional looking textbooks etc. There was a western doctor in our tour group and when it was all over he laughed and tried to explain to me that the whole thing was horseshit, lol I thought he was being a bit rude/stubborn but of course I had nothing to offer for any debate.

What do you think of chinese medicine, acupuncture etc? I have been in a few clinics like this they seem pretty proud of their schooling, degrees on the wall and more think textbooks on the shelf etc

I do wonder sometimes about placebo, how/why exactly it works, what its limits or full potentials might be, and whether or not it might be at the root of any/all healing when it comes down to it... but that's likely to really piss off Vutu lol

If you guys really wanna call out some bullshit, how about those Reiki people?

You can become a certified Reiki practitioner with a simple weekend course. A bit more and you become a Reiki 'Master'! :D

I know someone personally who claims to be receiving Reiki treatments from a long distance (like other side of the equator), they do a 'session' for her and its supposed to affect her even though the Reiki master is like 5000 miles away

Its a really big trend, go figure

Im gonna read between the lines on this and assume that your mother is paying some thieving piece of shit money to "treat" her with reiki remotely.

If im right please ask her to stop, funding these lying thieves simply allows them to cast their marketing web wider and steal more money. The fact that they pull this shit on dying people and not just retarded soccer mums is beyond reprehension.

I think the bigger issue in the midst of all this medical jumbo jumbo going on is how so many people are attracted to it in the first place. This speaks volumes to our current understanding of medicine and health and wellness as people have either lost faith in modern western medicine, or they've seen through the bullshit and are willing to try anything to get better.
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.

I think youre right, people just dont get it but its not modern western medicine's fault its that people dont understand the treatment they are getting.

Example, everyone who has lost anyone to cancer will try to point out that chemo just drags people's lives on for a few months, maybe years so as to line the doctor's pockets. BULLSHIT. I know for a fact that doctors carefully explain to the sufferer and their support group that the treatment (Chemo) isnt a cure and that all it can do is buy time.

They leave it totally up to the individual as to whether they want to drag things out or go quickly. Most chose the former "for their family".

I dont care to count the number of people I have lost to the big C, only one decided to just let things run their course naturally and he was gone in less than two weeks. He's the only one I saw die with any dignity, cleared his bank accounts, blew the lot and off he went and everyone was thankful for it.

I digress, our understanding of medicine is fine, out lack of understanding of the diseases is the issue but lets not make any mistake about the alternate medicines noted in this thread and others being complete and utter bullshit. I hate big pharma and the fact that they can rebrand heroin and sell it to vulnerable people but if taken as directed (which is rarely is) it works. So does the rest of western medicine.

Show me one Chinese "good for the yang" erectile treatment that works as well as viagra? you cant. Dont bother.

^ ace post, very informative

I also never understood chemo, my few experiences all showed it to be a waste of miserable time.

You read between the lines well, or I gave too much away. Yes its my mom but she doesn't pay for it, its the equivalent I guess of her Christian friends praying for her, which is also something she believes fervently in. I do too in some ways, though I know not how this might work, so I guess why not Reiki but I just can't go that far, lol Reiki is hokey as shit, I've met a few. But then again who knows, lol Like I said placebo is real so conscious intent surely somehow has the power to affect the physical but we just don't know how

When we face death, spiritual health and wellness suddenly come to the forefront for many, and lets be truthful, western medicine offers nothing in this department, totally dumbfounded and lost. So I can understand the sense that there is this gaping hole in the 'holistic' sense of who and what we are. Therefore I get why some have almost an attraction to the crazy and unscientific, the more 'unprovable' the better... because that's what they're searching for!

Do you think its better to question a person's faiths and beliefs as the face death? Or let them hold on to whatever gives them peace? I don't know the answer, but I seem to be favoring the latter.
