The Mari folk and their faith

Postby Luigi » Sat Jul 14, 2018 1:02 pm

The Mari are a Finnic people closely related to Finns and Estonians. They live on the Volga river in Western Russia. Despite long periods of contact from Russian Christians and Turkic Muslims, the Mari have maintained their folk faith. Not only is the religion alive with over 100 deities, the clergy is also fully alive and functioning.

What an astonishing blessing.

Also their music is pretty awesome:

That looks positively dreamy! Lets go live there, Luigi!!

If I could speak russian and was single I might go check it out for a year or so. Amazing humans are still able to live like that in some places. Props to Russia, I can't see anything like that being allowed to function in the west.

I know a guy who tried to live in a wigwam in the summers in the Rockies, the fuzz took his camp down.

Hope nobody starts up the diversity card over there, looks precious

Bring her to the states she'll be doing porn in no time.
People say they all want the truth, but when they are confronted with a truth that disagrees with them, they balk at it as if it were an unwanted zombie apocalypse come to destroy civilization.
