I have to disagree wholeheartedly. In my experience it brings you closer to the true nature of reality. It is the conditioned 'sober' mind that is so vastly disconnected from how much is actually happening around us all the time.

Then again, I suppose it all depends on the user. I can also totally see some people going deep into their own psyche too. I always used it as a lens to look outward and explore reality, but I think the trip is vastly different for everyone.
I cringe when I hear about the underground government testing they did in the 60's/70's where they pumped people full of it for weeks straight, my god what madmen.
