Wickedly Talented Kids I Teach...

Postby Masato » Sun Dec 18, 2016 11:55 pm

Hey all

So I've been teaching 'Drawing for Comics and Animation' classes at the missus' studio for several years now... some of the students have stayed with me and kept coming back and are getting really good, then over the past year some more wickedly talented kids showed up and joined, so now I have this group of kids who can draw way better than anyone should be at their age, lol (they are all about 13 years old)

Mostly, this past session I focused on ANATOMY, and being able to draw proper structure of the human form and being able to manipulate it in perspective and 3D space. High focus on sketching, getting loose, capturing gestures etc... These kids are really amazing and soak up every challenge I throw at them. After years of teaching beginners at various places it is really a thrill to have such an amazing bunch to work with and teach.

Taught my last class for the term yesterday, next session starts in Jan I can't wait, I have some ideas to push them even further. I am creating monsters! lol Strangely, they are all girls. That's weird cuz when I was in animation school, girls were rare all the best drawers were guys but it may seem that the tables are getting flipped, most of the great art I see these days on social media are all female

Anyways here were some pics I took yesterday of their sketchbooks and some of the stuff they've been drawing throughout the past 10 weeks of classes.

Remember, these kids are barely 13 years years old.
Its almost frightening :D

- Those are cool draws.
I can see different styles, do you teach different styles or every student develop his own style alone?

I don't care what style they want to draw in, nor do I care what they draw. I just want to teach them to approach things correctly, to learn to sketch, think about structure, learn their anatomy/perspective, and be able to think and draw in 3D space. I'm developing a sort of mental muscle... how they use it is up to them.

- Drawing classes? You teach classes to your pupils and animate their drawings?
