Once you are on the list, police for example have NO WAY OF KNOWING if you are on the list because you have been caught making bombs, or because your cousin posted something on facebook the gov't didn't like. How do you think you will be treated if that cop sees you have been marked? Basically, if you are on the list you are in DEEP SHIT, and it is basically impossible to defend yourself/nothing you can do.

This can affect your ability to get a job, drive, fly, and can lead to incarceration/detention etc

Most people don't even know if they are on the list or not
