and now it seems, not a lot of people give a shit anymore because no one in power does anything.

Next step: Ridicule it, have comedians write "funny, witty" monologues about it, have producers make stupid TV shows about it. If one laughs at it, one can't be afraid of it. One won't see the threat if it's in one's face and shoving its dick in one's mouth.

That's how ignorance is nurtured in our "society".
