So i was watching this presentation by Tragedyandhope.com s Richard Grove with John Taylor Gatto called The Ultimate History Lesson and John mentions a student of his telling him about his flea collection. The student said that if you have a bucket or container of fleas that are jumping around energetically and you want to make them docile you put a lid on tje container. After one hour you go back and lift the lid and the fleas would be huddled together and would not jump for a while. He relates it to the current public school system. When humans are born we are innately curious and active, moving and exploring but as we go through the school system our creativities and curiosities are suppressed and moulded with various "lids" of authority and conformity. Standardized multiple choice testing doesn't teach critical thinking but memorization. These test also keep children in a stressful one size fits all environment in which if they don't "behave" ie bow to authority they are punished and or drugged. John also mentions

Any teacher using standardized multiple choice tests is a lazy hack.

Please do. Those videos with John Taylor Gatto are very interesting in terms of the evolution of western education. The flea circus vids are just funny and creepy.
