Aikido seems like the Iaijustu of empty-hand self-defense as its specialty is in the initial moment of threat where one could surprise and/or neutralize the threat with Aikido in that window of opportunity...but if after the initial attack defense the threat has not be neutralized and the combat evolves into a more strategic ROUGH-&-TUMBLE of Fisticuffs and Grappling then one would need to employ the combat sporting methods of Boxing, Muay Thai, Wrestling, JiuJitsu, or Judo to defend himself

Great post, this is truth.

Practitioners have to be honest with themselves about why they like to train whatever style they've chosen.

- Thats why i come back to training taekwondo. love martial arts-movies from the 80's and 90's, and i love Tokusatsu shows. I was watching Kamen Rider Kabuto, and Kamen Rider kick-hopper fighting style is tkd:

The jiu-jitsu teacher that i was training under back in 2014, was a miserable piece of trash. So i left him and come back to having fun. The old bastard killed two gym in this period.

Kamen Rider was the first superhero I was a fan of before I even knew who Superman was.
