When I watch the kids in my son's jitz class moving around it really hits home that I will never be able to move like that again. So flexible, so light and free. I am still relatively healthy but have all kinds of cracks and pains, my knee gives out sometimes, etc.
I also recently had to come to terms that I would likely never learn how to ride skate bowls anymore... Always wanted to learn but I am just too stiff these days, and falling just hurts way too much when you're older.
Its an inspiration to stay fit, Edge is good to recommend yoga, stretching etc. There is a lot we can do but aging is simply a reality that can't be stopped.
Enjoy physical activity while you can, folks. Be good to your body

I've injured my back like half a year ago, and any kind of "real" physical activity is off limits for a long while now. I almost feel like crying sometimes :("

Ok, now this is gonna get really funny (and sad).
I actually injured my back doing yoga. I did this:
I held that pose for 3 minutes. I did it every day, but that particular morning, I started doing it without a proper warm-up. I tried to "un-bend". Boom, pain.
Then, I did the stupidest thing possible: I tried self-treatment, warm/hot patches, etc.
It got worse, then, I went to the doctor, got some shots, it didn't help much.
To lessen the pain I started wearing a belt, like the one for heavy lifting. It helped, but, I wore it for like 2 months straight, and all my core spine muscles lost tone. I fell down, hurt my back even more.
Then... I got some treatment by Chinese needle therapist (acupuncture), it helped a bit, but still... THEN, I went through the course with a chiropractor... Now, I am doing some very light exercises to strengthen my core muscles, and, later, I'll probably go through another chiropractor course and, possibly, needle therapy.
THE MORAL is: YOGA IS GOOD, TMAS ARE GOOD. DO IT (and everything else) THE RIGHT WAY.
