There are plenty of wrestlers his size now though, aren't there?

Is he still so unusual? He never looked very athletic at all, wasn't very believable imo that no one could beat him.

- Big-Show is a far better athlete and pro-wrestler.

Big Van Vader was a great athlete too.
And so was Yokozuna

Andre had charisma and got more mainstream exposure.Hogan is more famous than Randy Savage, even thought that Randy is a far better wrestler. S

Andre fought the boxer Chuck Wepner in a shoot. Or rather it turned into a shoot half way through the match.

Wepner was famous for going the distance with Ali and knocking him down in the 9th round.

Wepner and Andre had met beforehand and decided to give it a good show, but both got pissed at how hard the other one was going, and things got a bit out of hand.

Boxer vs Wrestler years before the UFC. Wepner was the inspiration for the Rocky character and this was the original Thunderlips vs Rocky.

- THis used to happen onthe old catch days. Where the pro-wrestlers proved the supremacy of the noble art!

Every interview I've ever heard, wrestlers always talk of Andre as though he could wreck anyone anytime he wanted to, they all give him praise

But physically I can't see this happening, he looked so sickly most of the time, I bet even Wapner if he really started taggin him would drop him.

So what is the source of this continued legendary status? Why no one ever talks smack of him? Was it just because he was a really nice guy? Was it because Vince told everyone to keep the myth alive or else? Did they feel sorry for him cuz they knew he was actually quite weak? Or are the legends true and he could really kick everyone's ass?

Tallest wrestlers:

Giant Gonzalez - 7'6"
I never knew why they gave him that stupid suit. Some matches the suit even looked like he was naked, lol

André The Giant - 7'4"

Giant Silva - 7'2"

The Great Khali - 7'1"

Kane - 7 feet

Uncle Elmer - 7 feet

The Big Show - 7 feet

Kurrgan - 6'11"

The Undertaker - 6'10"

Big John Studd - 6'10"

Kevin Nash - 6'9"
