Pulled my lower back tonight. An older, stiffer, spazzier, suckier guy yanked me into his closed guard when we were at a weird angle. He also busted my eyelid from some spazzy jumping guard pass that led to an accidental slap. I've got a big hematoma around my eye.

I haven't gotten hurt from BJJ in many years. I feel as though I've become almost injury proof, at least for the stuff done in a BJJ gym.

Tonight was a reminder that I'm human, and sooner than I like it, grow old.

Good on ya guys

My schedule has limited me for a while to only daytime classes, of which the turnout has been pretty sparse. Its all whitebelts but you know I think I'm actually learning tons. They are all pretty good and so I turn it down just to play and learn and let them try things but at the same time I can totally experiment with things and see what I can do without much effort or strength. There is a girl that is coming, she should get her blue soon she's a scrapper but of course I'm way stronger, so I play with like 20% strength and try to only be fluid and work on technique, we've been having some great rolls.

Last Thursday this new guy at our club was there, an intimidating purple belt, I'd seen him last week trying his hardest to contend with a black belt so I thought he was a risky partner but we paired up and I did really well, he even complimented me after. Then I learned he is the new kids jiu jitsu coach, he coached my son a few days later and he's a really great guy. Looking forward to the next evening class where I get to roll with him and the other higher belts again. That night it was ALL purples browns and blacks, I almost feel guilty being there lol but they are all cool and I had an above average night as far as learning and performing
