Little Masato Takes GOLD!

Postby Masato » Mon Dec 07, 2015 11:22 am

Hey all

Came back last night from my son's 2nd BJJ tournament.

Swept for gold, not giving up a single point. Kid is stoked.
He's been training hard for this

All his opponents had higher belts than him, but he took em all frankly without much trouble

He did perfectly listening to his coach... if you listen carefully you can hear his coach giving instructions and he was consistently looking over, listening, and did everything the coach told him.

He had a little anxiety rush after the first match (his first win ever) and had a short cry but got himself back together nicely and was super calm/cool for the rest of the matches.

I've watched these a bunch of times now, the more I watch the more I realize how well he really did. He did all the things he's been learning, really efficient, textbook jits.

Oh - No submissions at this age, just position and points.

here are the vids, lil Masato in blue:

Match 2:

The last time he competed (his first competition) he got thumped, lost all his matches and took a headbutt to the lip

Big change

Congrats again bro. How did the all nighter go?

I ended up going straight to sleep (sober... that's how tired I was lol) and waking up at 4am to finish. This is only possible for me with the secret ingredient :D

backstory: tournament was almost 3 hrs away, I knew I had about 5 hours of work upon return due the next morning at 10am. But I was so spent and in such a docile mood I could not bring myself to do it. Canuckster made me a magic potion and I used it in the home stretch, made the deadline 15 minutes early, lol

I often criticize myself for being the procrastinator that I am... I'm always putting things off and leaving things to the very last minute. On the other hand, I am awesome at it and almost never miss a deadline. C'est la vie

Thanks again Nuckst
