Bellator announces 10-man welterweight tourney field

Postby Jehannum » Tue Jul 17, 2018 9:43 pm

Yesssssssssss Ed Ruth has been included ... he has an opportunity to become a Bellator legend almost overnight!!

The field is just about set for Bellator’s upcoming welterweight tournament.

Ten of the promotion’s best at 170 pounds will be featured in the bracket, including current champion Rory MacDonald; former champions Douglas Lima and Andrey Koreshkov; undefeated welterweights Michael Page, Neiman Gracie, Ed Ruth, and Yaroslav Amosov; and former UFC standouts Lorenz Larkin and Jon Fitch.

Officials told MMA Fighting’s Shaun Al-Shatti that a 10th participant is still to be named and there will be two play-in matches to determine the final eight-man bracket.

of course MVP took shots at Paul Daley who wasn't included. Hopefully he will be the 10th fighter.

I'd be surprised if it's not MVP vs the fighter with the worst striking ... Neiman Gracie?

I can't see any lightweights in the mix so......

- Neiman is a very good grappler. MVP isa good striker, and very dangerous, but ithink Neiman could take him to the ground. And since you mentioned his name. Dude can be a darkhorse to win!

I'm not sure they would risk him against Larkin or Daley, and the others are very good fighters except Ed Ruth ... but imagine all those years of protecting MVP amounting to him getting smashed by a relative novice lol

I actually expect MVP to pull out before it begins, the tournament has too much talent and he can't avoid them all if he participates :D

sorry if I'm a bit of a negative nancy, just feels like we've been waiting years for MVP to fight a decent welterweight

I'm looking forward to the tournament with or without Daley
