Denmark, Sweden and Finland are the newest countries to have US troops and stockpiled military supplies. NATO has 31 members ( 29 European countries and 2 North American.) Conventionally the Russians cant win against NATO unless they decide to use their nuclear forces, not against all 31 NATO members, but I believe they believe if they take out the US before the other members can react then maybe...

Putin is ready for talks? I think Putin, and maybe he's right, he will be negotiating from strength. I think this was the time that Ukraine had to show that they could make significant gains this year. But it looks like the war will go another year with winter having set in looks like they'll have to wait until next spring to resume any significant offensive operations. Now they're hunkered down and fighting from the trenches like WWI. I think the focus is now in Israel/Gaza and Ukraine has seen enough of slowdown with their munitions supply that they can't do anything the rest of this year. All that Russia needs to do is hold the line and keep sending their cheap Iranian drones and whatever else they can cobble up.
