I need to learn more about Orthodoxy

I grew up Protestant, & the whole concept of how it was possible to foster a personal connection with God/Christ/Holy Spirit etc, WITHOUT authority of the church made perfect sense to me. So much so that I stopped going to church pretty early lol.

I had Catholic friends, those guys all looked psycho to me.

What is Orthodoxy about? Honestly I never really investigated cause it just looked like more church madness to me. However there was some cheesy Twitter post going around "WHICH ONE ARE YOU?" and then 4 video choices of different 'Christian' denominations and their rituals. I was surprised that I found the Orthodox option the most appealing. Now here is Luigi bringing it back again.

Orthodox is basically really strict at being old school, it treats the old testament as equally important to the new stuff and its essentially the same flavor as Islam and Orthodox Judaism.

this book really helped me to understand Christian Belief better and I always recommend it when there is opportunity. It has also been my research that the Orthodox is the oldest continuous practicing denomination and to confirm that I recently asked an AI what the oldest continuous Christian denomination and it replied Orthodox which confirmed my own research. I believe that Catholic/Orthodox were originally unified. To simplify the cause of the "split" over the years the Catholic group updated/evolved some of their concepts while the Orthodox remained unchanged

I've spent a lot of time learning about Vatican II. Definitely a major shift there on many levels. I can't believe that the church was any less corrupt for the centuries before that though, just different.

not suggesting I agree with this "trend" the Pope is setting but no doubt there's a lot of PORNwatchers who will throw stones! I have observed that this pope can be controversial. He will say/do things which can troll people from both the LEFT and RIGHT side of the political spectrum.

I have listened to some Priests concerning this matter via the Youtube and how to understand this. One must make an HONEST contemplation of SIN. Example, SEX is supposed to be for reproduction and if there is LUST involved then it's SIN...and SIN is SIN no matter if its an act of Homosexual or Heterosexual LUST. So Two men can love each-other so long as they do not engage in LUST and SEX then their "love" could be blessed same as an Orthodox couple...but if there is acts of LUST then that is SIN and the SIN cannot be blessed.

Next is the contemplation and act of "Love thy Neighbor". This does not mean one accepts and/or advocates SIN but he does try to live in a way which is compassionate and loving of his fellow man

it really comes down to "Man in the Mirror"....and don't throw stones when living in GLASS HOUSES
