Yeah, it was a pretty dumb trailer that really mislead what the movie was about. I guess back in the 80's sex could help sell movies. So many people wouldn't go see a high school wrestling movie on it's own so they added the love interest. But in the trailer they could have at least highlighted the wrestling.
Maybe they didn't want women to see it as just a dumb jock movie.
Mathew Modine and Linda Fiorintino had good careers after that but so did Forrest Whitaker who was in the movie.
