Long live döner Kebap.

Postby m25105 » Fri Jan 17, 2014 9:58 am

My beloved döner kebapim, in the long cold night as I travel through the streets, wandering past overpriced restaurants I see your light shine like a beacon in the dark. Your tasty, thinly cut flesh served with fresh onions, tomatoes, lettuce and cacik all inside a warm bread is more seductive than mistress from a fairy tale. Your cheap affordable prices alures me to sample even more of you despite already having one of you inside me.

No matter where I am Europe, no matter where I go, you'll always be there to comfort me and chase away the gnawing hunger in my belly and never once taking more than 3,5 euros from my wallet.

I love you.

These places are everywhere in europe and are a perfect way to get away from tourist traps. In Paris a french onion soup is 14 euro and not especially good. You can go to a doner shack and get a giant pita thing that tastes awesome for like 3-4 euros.

It's something you need to eat if you ever find yourself in Germany or Turkey!

I found a hole-in the-wall run down place in Munich and it was damn tasty. I also remember I found a really good one in a back alley in London one time.

From what I understand the kebap quality in the UK is pretty bad compared to say Germany. Any truth to that?

Its more a matter of quantity and not quality. There are awesome doner places on almost every street in urban Germany while they are much harder to find in the UK.
