I have had a fascination for ireland for some time. One of the biggest influences on my coming-of-age was an Irishman I knew who kind of saved my ass one night, and later made a tape for me once from his Dad's old LP's of Irish 'Rebel music'. He told me all the stories of what the songs were about, I used to pack that in my walkman many a-day.... unfortunately the tape got wrecked but I still carry that charisma of Ireland. I almost went to the University of Cork for a year on an exchange program but figured out late that it was too expensive. Also been a huge Sinead O'Conner and Shane McGowan fan forever
One day I will go for sure.
I'm part Irish. I went there for college. My family is from Cork, actually.
This guy, John McCourt, was a former IRA member and was present at Bloody Sunday in Derry. He gave us a tour of the town.
