Hey all
My wife is a potter, so sometimes she digs up cool vids about ceramics. This was one I really enjoyed.
True mastery, check it out:
5 South Korean Pottery Masters
It really makes you appreciate the ancient masters.
^ yes. I was at a museum a few months ago, and it almost seems the farther back you go, the BETTER THE POTTERY GETS.
Old, old shit are often absolute marvels of work, kicking absolute ass over ANYTHING that people are making today. Like not even close. The attention to detail... entire paintings done on the ceramics, etc etc.
The idea that the farther you go back, the less technological or less smart humans were is a crock of shit. There were smart fuckin peeps back then, yo. MASTERS.
This always really trips me out. Who were these people? How did they live? How did they create such wonders/achieve such levels of mastery?

I read an excellent article a few years back about an ancient Athenian pottery workshop and it was able to conclude pretty much exactly how much work and how many pots each artist did per year, and how many artist there were and how much money they made. I think I can search thru some old files and find record of it.
Edit: Found it:

Haha, thanks guys. You guys are pretty cool yourselves.
A potter? Awesome!
But if you want REALLY awesome pottery, look up "Jomon" and "Haniwa." The Japanese are perhaps the oldest and greatest potters on Earth.

They are the oldest. Pottery was invented in prehistoric Japan and permeated throughout the world long before the beginning of history.
