Lost knowledge

Postby fungi » Tue Sep 03, 2013 5:59 pm

Didn't really know where to post this:

Oppenheimer spoke these words in the television documentary The Decision to Drop the Bomb (1965). In the literature, the quote normally appears in the form shatterer of worlds, because this was the form in which it first appeared in print, in Time magazine on November 8, 1948. It later appeared in Robert Jungk's Brighter than a Thousand Suns: A Personal History of the Atomic Scientists (1958), which was based on an interview with Oppenheimer

IMO, it's possible atomic/nuclear weapons had been used on Earth in ancient times. we may have lost that knowledge, yet memory of it still rings in tales, fables, and myths...

some people say that all knowledge is passed on to the next generations. altho sometimes the way that it is given can be left to interpretation, numerous holy books are examples of this, but for whatever reason certain information rings true.

im sure there is much informstion from the past that we dont have access to at this moment. we can speculate a great many things. sometimes things are unearthed bringing forth tangible evidence for theories once thought preposterous. sometimes those secrets stay hidden.

anything is possible imho

^ there's definitely significant part that is lost when the info gets passed down to later generations. as you said sometimes it's hidden. anywho, recently found this great series "What ancients knew". I think it's from Aussie tv. there are ones about Egypt, India, China, Japan, Greece, Rome, etc. very informative:

I remember studying the classic world and learning that to this day sculptors cant achieve the same weight distribution that the ancient greeks did. We have certainly lost a lot of knowledge to the sands of time.
