Re: Discuss your most recent training

Overall I'm trying to get more aggressive. I've spent most of my time on the mats Flow Rolling and trying to surprise and trick opponents. That's essentially the same as relying on force or flexibility. I need another element, I need offense, to press the attack but there is a psychological block i...

Re: Discuss your most recent training

I swept this 5'10" 295 lb 'African-American' Black Belt today. They guy is an absolute beast; he pops in once a week and crushes everyone including my instructor. I was really focusing on holding my ground, and he started thrashing around in my butterfly guard, I shot underneath for the SLX whi...

Re: Discuss your most recent training

The investment into Single-Leg-X paid off. I steam-rolled a 265lb Purple last night, and it all started with that sweep.

My instructor has started to get wise to it though, first time I swept him 4 times with it, last time 2, next time it will be 0, and I'll have to switch it up.

Re: Gary Tonon vs Shinya Aok (NoGi)

Shinya was very well prepared and showed great wrestling and top-control. Moral victory for him IMO.

Also, Tonon is flirting with an MMA debut, if he gets overpowered by Shinya, I don't see any reason he'd perform better against A-Level talent.

Re: Craig Jones vs Lachlan Giles (Nogi)

Which was student and which was teacher? Exciting rolls!! The student is Craig Jones, he burst on the scene a year ago; a relative unknown totally wrecked ADCC and EBI. I guess he did a seminar at my home Gym back in March 2017, but I wasn't paying attention and missed it! His coach is the bearded ...
